To simplify your life pick up a car when arriving at Faro Airport.
For example, Europcar, Avis, Budget, Hertz, Sixt and Thrifty have counters at Faro Airport.
To price comparision use a site like rentalcars.
In Portugal driving is on the right with overtaking on the left.
Car Seats
You have a couple of options:
- Add a baby or child car seat to your order when renting a car (some companies charge for this).
- Bring a car seat with you (check your airline website for more information).
- Rent a child car seat from a baby equipment company in Portugal. For example, Little Rascals Algarve provides this service.
- Buy a car seat in Portugal. For example, Zippy Kidstore and Norauto sell them.

Explore the Algarve: Transfers and Taxis
The easiest way to get from the airport to the apartment is by airport transfer.
A quick browse on the internet and you find plenty of companies offering airport transfers from Faro airport.
Airport transfers are cheaper than getting a taxi at the airport.
However, there is a taxi rank directly outside the arrivals terminal, if necessary.
Things to consider when making a transfer/taxi reservation:
There are two routes to get to the apartment:
Option 1 – Using N125, an A road
Option 2 – Using A22, a motorway road (toll ended in Jan 2025, hooray!)
If you need child seats or baby booster always mention this when booking (some companies charge for this service).

Public Transport
Travel by public transport in Algarve is possible but is not the easiest or fastest way to get around.
